Level It Books App Reviews

Missing Key Features

Maybe there are better apps out there for a class from collections? This one is missing all of the things that everyone else has noted- print, export, etc. There also doesnt seem to be a way to combine libraries or move/copy a book from one library to another. Scanning ISBN numbers didnt work very well. Often it either couldnt find that ISBN or when it did, that particular version didnt have any levels listed. Searching the title work a bit better since the same title has multiple ISBNs and I was able to click around and sometimes found a one with a level. But, many titles have no levels under any ISBN. I had to spend a lot of time on Scholastics and ARs site to find levels, and come back to this app to save the book to a library, based on levels. All of the extra research made cataloging hundreds of books a very, very long process. I also posted a question on their FB page, but it looks like it takes over a week to get an answer, so Im still waiting.

Level it books

Not satisfied. Want a refund. Not even worth $3

Hoping it gets better with time

This app is a great idea but its new and most of my books arent available yet. Im hoping it gets better with every version. This update made me lose the ability to add a book that is not in their database to my library. I liked being able to do that because even though it couldnt level it for me, I could check the book out. The loss of this function is very inconvenient since the database is small and this makes the app useless even for the check-out function.

Really???

I have yet to be given a level from this app. I scan and scan and scan books. But it doesnt have the guided reading levels for anything. Such a waste of my money.

Waste of Money

Ive never written a review, but this app is so terrible. I have just scanned and typed in about 75 books in my kids rooms and have only found THREE guided reading levels. Its ridiculous.

Exceptional Classroom Tool

Level It makes keeping track of my libraries easy...love the improved access!

Catalog not full enough

I have a lot of newer scholastic books and older chapter books donated from retired teachers. I have over 300 and I stopped scanning after scanning fifty or so. I could only label four books by lexile level. All that I would see was that they were not in the system. I would then manually type them in to learn the same thing. Not as easy as advertised.

Do Not Buy

The barcode scanner does not work well. I tried six random popular books and received no reading level information. I repeat: it didnt give me reading level information for any of the books I tried. It did, however, list an incorrect author name for one of the books. The purpose of this app is to give reading level information, and it did not work.

Found most titles

This app found most of the titles in my kindergarten library and included the same amount of GR levels as the scholastic book wizard. It is useful and time- saving (I used to have to manage an excel spreadsheet to keep track of my library/ take home books), but is definitely designed for iPhone and not iPad- they need to make it a true iPad app for library management purposes.

Good App

We love this app because it levels books and catalogs them at the same time, which obviously saves some time for us because we need both functions. But we would say there were some incorrect F&P levels, so just be careful of that. We had to cross-reference about 15% of books with another source. And most of those showed the incorrect level in the Level It app. The scanning feature worked fabulously and made it so easy. We would definitely recommend this app to those that need leveling and cataloging, just keeping in mind that some of the levels may be off.

Waste of money

I wish I read reviews first. I scanned some books I have. Either they cant find it or there is no level assigned to it

Stop! do not waste your money

Does not work. Only leveled 2 out of the 100 scanned. Those 2 books already have their level printed right on them. Terrible. I want a refund!!

Disappointing

I spent a significant amount of time at the library scanning books for my kindergartener, none of them was in the query.

Teacher/Literacy Facilitator

This app is wonderful when it has the level, however, most books dont have a level and I end up spending lots of time on websites locating the level. This is not a one stop, convenient app if youre needing it to locate the reading level quickly. I am not currently using it to keep tracks of my own books. Im needing it to provide the reading level quickly.

Not worth the money

I scanned 10 books to get the guided reading levels, none of them were listed in the app.

Unreliable Data

When the ISBN scans - it appears to pull from the The Lexile Framework for Reading. While it is almost always spot on - it does not allow editing of your Library. I wanted to add the GRL and it will not allow me. Very frustrating.

Very disappointed!!!

Every book I scanned either had no reading levels available or the book could not be found.

Limited!

If the database grows for this app, I can imagine that it would be worth the purchase. But as it is, I can search web sites (scholastic book wizard) that give me the levels easier than this app currently does. I hope that the data grows quickly so I can recommend this to my teachers.

Updates

Im excited for this app. I wish we could check out entire libraries quickly and also select more than 1 book at a time and then check out all at once to save clicking!

Good App

This app was only missing 2 out of 30 books and it was pretty painless to use. For some titles I had to use both the title and author and scroll sometimes to the bottom of the list but it was there! Another downfall is that there are very few books with Lexile ratings and that is how my school levels. However, if you like DRA or Grade Level this app would be great. I still have a ton of books to do but hopefully it will go by just as quickly as the first 30.
